When it comes to books and radio shows such as Mr. Webb, I am dubios. I just cannot get over the fact that people like Mr. Webb, selects what I say are "HOT BUTTON" topics, Mr. Webb writes books and has radio shows while, excuse the cynicism, laughs all the way to the bank. Even assuming arguendo, his materials have some truth in their content. CAVEAT EMPTOR.

At the rate I see police officers, corrections officers, and other government officials being charged with sexual crimes I am beginning to wonder if the wrong people are not being forced to register. Maybe the registry of former offenders is a ploy to draw attention away from the real predators. Those tasked with protecting society.

What a double standard this chief should be fired along with officer Graves if this accusation is found to be true . How can you be a citizen if you not from this country . More cop's that should be allowed only one bullet for their gun . Too further that statement does that include registerd citizens of time served . Proof the world has turned upside down . 12-12-12 . Esquivel's job is to build up trust in the community ? Sounds like a legislator is telling him what to say .

How can they make him a chapter 980 when the conviction was set aside as coerced? This prosecutor sounds as if he needs a conviction for failing to uphold the constitutional rights of a human being. He obviously does not know the constitution.

It's called "PUSHING THE ENVELOPE." The prosecutors need yet another "INCH," so they want to try to get it at the cost of a lot of $$$$$$ to go to court. If the state wins this, what a windfall. This is the way the game is played, while trampling on the rights of those they have in custody. They could care less about rights. It is only pro forma protecting the rights of defendants. It's about POWER.

We need to start an online petition against this prosecutor. If the sex offenders and their families don't stand up against the violation of the rights of the sex offender it will only get worse. THIS MUST STOP!!!!!

Good point.

Just my view: it seems to me that sex offenders collectively have built in masochistic personality traits because I have yet to see in recent times, any collection of offenders gathering together to protest, petition, "take a stand" against anything that is being done against this group. They seem to do the reverse of what is portrayed about them. They hide, stay out of the light, cringe, and occasionally, you will see one or two come out and at least try to make a stand. Not going to work with only one or two. Now if two or three hundred do this at a state house, or city hall, ouch! See, the powers that be KNOW full well, this ain't gonna happen, and out comes the legal steam roller of enactments! It starts with offenders first, the heck with the media, police and the like. When they see these offenders starting to push back, things can change.

Never gonna happen. As long as the "at least I do not have to _blank_" or "as long as I still get to _blank_" carrot is dangled in front of people's noses these laws will gallop on without any significant pushback. And _blank_ is a moving target. Such is the "beauty" of sex offender registration.

I am a member of the various groups but without the support of the offenders nothing will ever change. They have to get off their collective butt and help.

Exactly my point cynic, very sadly I am afraid!

Masochism must be the reason especially when you consider that a lot of sex offenders have very little to lose. They've already been stigmatized, they've already been to jail, a lot of them can't find jobs or places to live, so why not speak out? How far do they have to fall before they hit rock bottom?
