Cops busted a city correction officer after he molested a 16-year-old girl he met at a party, officials said Wednesday.

Giovanny Campos, 41, was nabbed in Queens on Tuesday night and charged with endangering the welfare of a child and having sexual contact with an individual under 17.

Campos met the 16-year-old at a party thrown by the teen's family - and she told him she was 18, he told investigators.

Campos took the girl's number and fondled her on a date about three days later, officials said.

Campos' arraignment was pending Wednesday afternoon.

"Campos met the 16-year-old at a party thrown by the teen's family - and she told him she was 18, he told investigators." This may be a true statement, but legally, it is no defense, or mitigation in New York. The fact the complaining witness was under 18 under NY law, will suffice for Mr. Campos to feel the wrath of the NY District Attorney office, and also be placed on the NY S.O. registry Unless he has a superior lawyer who knows how to wrangle. So, for the reader''s information, here are the three rules of criminal practice: 1. PREPARATION; 2. PROCEDURE; 3. POLITICS. Just ask Jack McCoy, he will tell you the same thing I just did.

"However, Limestone County District Attorney Brian Jones said his office
might deal with other pending cases before the Watson case." By the time Mr. Watson gets to trial, the courts, the staff, and police will be ready with the tar and feathers as the courthouse will already be warmed up for this case - believe me. And the District Attorney Office will surely learn from any so-called "legal" error(s) they have made in the previous cases.

These particular killings that will not stop until the registries are off the internet is an extension of what people in America really think about offenders. You have a certain few with psychopathic personalities that act out what I perceive is their thinking they are doing the "good" citizens of America a favor. And if one were to probe the victimizers in these particular cases, you will probably find a deep seated hatred of offenders because the victimizers were victimized at a time in their lives too. So, I will ask the question once more for the readers cogitation: just where would the national and state sex offender registries be if there were no internet at all?

Only 2 types of people use this "defense." People that are telling the truth and ignorant or people that are lying and stupid. Either way the best thing to do if this were to happen to you is SAY NOTHING TO ANYONE! Not your parents, friends, ANYONE. The only words out of your mouth to the police should be I WANT A LAWYER. Perhaps add the word NOW!

The registries must come down for the sake and safety of those who have served their time. Murders, thieves, drug offenders, etc... are allowed to do their time and go on with their lives, why not the sex offender? This registry business must stop NOW! No more deaths because of the registry!

I thought that you had to be brought to trial within 1 year of the charges being filed. Are they dragging their feet on purpose so the charges get dropped?

That is not exactly true. Some people have waited years for a court date, and some have sat in jail waiting for that court date as well.

Apparently, actual contact means nothing...
The whole case is based on intent...
Very likely, the stupid laws that we have for online porn stem from the belief that if you look at kids online, you want to rape them...
That's the same stupid mentality that says smoking pot leads to harder drugs...
Honestly, I would vote for the politician that smoked pot because he actually knows something about it...
