NY - New Sex Offender Tracking System in Oneida County

So when are they going to have an online registry for all other criminals? We'd love to know if a murderer, gang member, drug dealer / user, DUI offender, thief, or other criminal lives around us so we can "protect" ourselves!

Apparently, a bill was just filed in Albany N.Y. as a registry for "violent" offenders. The news article stated this registry will be identical to a sex offender registry

I share your frustration over the continuous targeting of sex offenders, but the solution is NOT to register other felons... it is to eliminate the registry and its affiliated punishments. All of these penalties will grow over time unless stopped. Did WE RSOs speak out when they prohibited drug offenders from receiving food stamps? Not they want to apply it to us. We will not get others to stand up for us if we suggest that they, too, should received the unfair treatment we receive.
As the old saying goes, "First they came for the Jews, but I was not Jewish, so said nothing...."

We agree, the registry should be gone all together, or offline and used by police only, but if they are going to have one for ex-sex offenders, then to be fair, they should have one for all ex-felons. Then when enough people's lives are ruined, things will change.
