VIRGINIA BEACH - A former Virginia Beach police officer was sentenced to 10 years behind bars Monday for child sex crimes.
45-year-old Michael Alan Chilldres pleaded guilty to five counts of aggravated sexual battery on April 30.
He'd been on suspension without pay since he was arrested in December 2011 for aggravated sexual battery and taking indecent liberties that occurred over three years with a child younger than age 13.
He hasn't been employed since May 2012, spokeswoman Grazia Moyers told WVEC.com
Chilldres had been with the Va. Beach Police Dept. since November 1993.
The judge Monday imposed a 30-year sentence and then suspended 20 suspended years, Commonwealth's Attorney spokeswoman Macie Pridgen told WVEC.com.

All I can say here is that I'm glad I was sentenced when I was...
ReplyDeleteNow that police officers are considered a threat to society, then laws against the average citizen will only get more restrictive...
Consider the fact that, once upon a time, cops were considered to be everybody's friend and the protectors of kid's and the public. Now what are they? Militant asses that hide behind street corners hoping to raise revenue? Potential sex offenders hoping to hide their own misdeeds behind the failings of others?
There are good cops out there and we should be glad of it. Yet the mistrust for law enforcement will only get worse. As lawmakers continue to abuse their authority and the media makes people believe that it's OK, the communities will continue to degenerate. Fewer people will turn to the police for help and start taking matters into their own hands... Anarchy will reign and the only answer will be marshall law...
The final straw will land and the government will finally have the power to rest control from the voting public completely...
Zen, ve vill be oonder ze proper control oof ze military! Sieg Heil!
