NOTE: Just trying to make a point about the insanity of the laws and the demonization of ex-offenders. I know it's nowhere near this bad, yet!

Geez... thanks for the encouraging post.
ReplyDeleteMost certainly the above image is disturbing. Yet it is depicting of how I feel as a RSO. Never mind that my specific crime has recidivism rates less than 3%, that I've no criminal convictions prior or most importantly since. Never mind that I am a human being. No FACTS matter in the witch hunt. With the cruelty and ceaseless punishment of the system/government and public ignorance that I live, the above measure would be far kinder....to put an end to existing in a life I'm denied in creating.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the courage to post this displeasing reality....no, it's not encouraging. But ideally it will prompt and provoke conscious thought as to what we are permitting our government and the media to lead us to....

ReplyDeleteOver at the following blog, the person thinks this is offensive. Why yes, it is, that was my point. And they said, how could I compare the lives of "predators" to the lives of the Holocaust survivors? Well, I am not comparing RSO's to Holocaust survivors, I am just asking a question, what is next? And if you are not an RSO or know someone who is, then how can you even know what it's like to live the life of an RSO?

If it offended you, good, that was my point.

ReplyDeleteThanks for the courage to post. I don't feel anyone meant to disparage Holocaust survivors or their families by this. It is an unfortunate truth however that sex offenders and their families are lumped into one group and continually punished regardless of the recidivism rates, age of the offender, length of time without another offense, successful treatment, severity of the offense, and the list goes on. In other words there are no second chances for a sex offender. Their lives are made to be hell and those of their families. A drunk driver can wipe out a whole family yet they don't have to suffer any other consequences after they serve their general sentence. Wonder what the recidivism rate is for them? The way laws are going now and the way certain vigilante groups rant sex offenders will be exterminated before long.
