There are thousands of wives, children and entire families of sex offenders who even though their names do not appear on the sex offender registry must suffer the same roadblocks to living that the registrant faces. The unconstitutional laws destroy families.

The courts have consistantly ruled the laws constitutional as applied to offenders but have NEVER ruled they are constituional as applied to loved ones.
ReplyDeleteThis is just ONE family's story. There are close to 800,000 more just like it. Lawmakers turn a blind eye to this aspect of the registry and just write it off as colatteral damage. Just as the woman in the story explained, thier entire family is considered a threat to children,and deserve no more sympathy than the registered offender themselves. It's obvious that legislators in the States are not going to slow down thier pursuit of more laws and restrictions for ANY reason. Many States are passing (SORNA compliant) laws adding children, 13 years old and up, to thier registries. I couldn't imagine the damage that would do to a childs life, as many who get convicted of certain sex offenses would be required to register for LIFE! (made public when they hit 18). Bottom line...........NOTHING will convince society that most registered offenders are NOT perverted,dangerous,pedophiles; at least, NOT YET. It may take another 10-20 years,who knows, but sooner or later there will be too many voices for lawmakers to
