SANTA ANA - A sheriff's deputy has been booked on suspicion of having sex with an inmate at a jail in southern California, authorities announced Friday.
Jennifer McClain, 29, was arrested Thursday night after being suspected of engaging in sexual activities with a male inmate at the Men's Central Jail in Santa Ana, Calif., southeast of Los Angeles, during November and December last year, The Orange County Register reported.
Orange County sheriff's department spokesman Jim Amormino said it was not known if McClain -- a five-year employee with the department -- had known the inmate prior to him being detained at the prison.
Amormino said McClain was released Thursday on her own recognizance.
Association of Orange County Deputy Sheriffs president Tom Dominguez said in a statement that McClain was cooperating with investigators.
"The allegations made against one of our own are very serious," the statement read. "We are confident that the investigation will be thorough and we anticipate a fair and just outcome."

Man SOI, that was quick! You just posted an article about another prison guard having sex with inmates, and now this one. To someone who is new to this site, or the registry itself, they might think that you are doing some heavy research just to find these types of articles(involving law enforcement/corrections officers). But as the more informed people visiting this site know, that is not the case. Just in the last 2 days, I have posted how there seems to be a correlation between the continual passing of
ReplyDeleteharsher laws and restrictions against registered offenders, and an obvious INCREASE in sex crime convictions of persons
who are NOT registered offenders. Doesn't this ring a bell, or open even a few eyes of the lawmakers and advocates for harsher punishment of registered offenders? The Governments justification for the registry is "Well, at least when these people have thier information plastered all over the internet, the public will know who they are and most assuredly be safer." So, is that the best all of the EXPERTS can come up with;a purely reactionary solution? (which the registry represents) All anyone has to do is look to the media reports in the last 5 years and they can see that the registry has done little or NOTHING in preventing the rapid increase in sex crimes against children and adults as well. How about all of the well paid EXPERTS comming up with a pro-active course of action to reduce the number of sex crimes from happening in the first place? It CAN be done. For the sake of our children, it must be done. Knowing this, who in our Government will have the courage to stand up and fight for the desperate changes that need to be made in this failed policy?
Peace, and God's love to all!
